RGNA Annual Meeting

You are cordially invited to attend our annual Rosemary Gardens Neighborhood Association (RGNA) meeting this upcoming Thursday, February 25 at 7:00PM to 8:30PM at the Bachrodt Elementary School Library. 

This year, Supervisor Dave Cortese, President of the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors will join us. He will address issues of concern to RGNA members and residents. I'd like to thank his office for helpfully coordinating the attendance of County and City Department representatives including: 
· Ray Bramson, Homeless Response Team Manager for the City of San Jose Housing Department 
· Robert Dolci, Homeless and Housing Concerns Coordinator for the County’s Office of Supportive Housing
· Captain David Lera, Sheriff’s Office 
· Captain David Tindall, Central Division Commander for the San Jose Policy Department (or representative) 

They will address concerns relating to homeless encampments along the 880 and 87 sound walls, mail theft, prostitution and drug dealing along First Street and East Gish Road. This is a great opportunity for you to gather information and share your concerns and how they may help resolve them. 

Our Councilmember and neighbor Raul Peralez will also be joining us and providing an update from the city. 

Following presentations and Q&As from our guests we will hold our Association’s Board elections and official board business.

Open RGNA positions for 2016

As 2015 draws to a close it is time to start planning for 2016. As always, elections will be held at our annual RGNA meeting in February. It is expected that our current leadership group will be transitioning out to pursue other interests, leaving all 4 positions available. Descriptions of the officer positions are listed below. If you have interest in running for any of the open officer positions, we would love to hear from you so that we may attempt to coordinate schedules where possible. The meeting will be held the week of February 27th.


  • Convene and facilitate all RGNA executive and neighborhood meetings

  • Represent the board and neighborhood at various community and civic meetings

  • Liaison with city, government, and school board officials

  • Oversee the work of other officers and board members

  • Serve as lead for Holiday Tree Lane (in collaboration with Holiday Tree Lane coordinator)

Vice President

  • In the absence of the President, convene and facilitate all RGNA executive and regular meetings

  • In the absence of the President represent the board and neighborhood at various community and civic meetings

  • In the absence of the President liaison with city, government and school board officials

  • Serve as lead for RGNA Yard Sales marketing, promotion, and facilitation


  • Oversee all finances for RGNA

  • Maintain ledger keeping track of inputs (dues, donations, tree orders) and outputs (event costs, newsletter costs, annual and event insurance).

  • Update board and RGNA regarding status of finances and forecasts upon request

  • Serve as lead for National Night Out/Ice Cream Social


  • Maintain minutes of all RGNA and board meetings

  • Circulate minutes for approval and post approved minutes

  • Assist President with follow through on action items

  • Initiate requests for meeting space, event insurance, and others board related initiatives

  • Serve as lead for social media postings and newsletter (in coordination with social media chair)

Yard Tree Orders and New Park Planning

Order forms for Holiday Yard Trees will be arriving on doorsteps soon. Keep an eye out! Each tree is $20. Orders must be received by November 25th. Ordered trees will be available for pickup on December 5th and 6th.

The City of San Jose Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Services is holding a meeting on Thursday November 19th at 7:00PM in the First and Rosemary Family Apartments, Community Room  to discuss the plans for a new park at the Northeast corner of Kerley & Rosemary.

The City of San Jose has acquired the vacant parcel at the northeast corner of Kerley Drive and East Rosemary Street for development as a future neighborhood park. The City is now engaging the community in an attempt to help identify possible features for this small neighborhood park. San Jose neighborhood parks typically include play equipment, pathways, landscaping, turf, picnic facilities, a bike rack, park benches, trash receptacles, park signage and security night lighting. The below questionnaire that can be filled out and returned at the meeting or to Dave Mitchell, PRNS, 200 East Santa Clara Street, 9th Floor, San Jose, California 95113 by December 1, 2015.

Rosemary Gardens Spring Yard Sale

The annual spring yard sale is happening next Saturday April 11th! Don't forget to have some small bills to make change for your customers. If you have any shopping bags that you haven't recycled yet you can offer them to customers that are having a hard time gathering up all the things they've bought to make it easier for them to get their items home.

RGNA Neighborhood Meeting Reminder

CalTrans Maintenance Form

While it appears San Jose is going to remove the current homeless encampments on the CalTrans Highway 87 easement, the CalTrans Maintenance Form should be filled out when you notice homeless encampments on the CalTrans easement.  The form is located at: http://www.dot.ca.gov/hq/maint/msrsubmit/

The form doesn't have an option for reporting homeless encampments. Specifically the "other" selection should be used, and situation and location should be described to the best of your ability, such as in the following example:
